Mutton seekh kebab

Mutton seekh kebab is a popular Indian dish made from minced mutton (goat meat) that is mixed with various spices and herbs, then skewered and grilled or roasted until it's cooked to perfection. Here's a basic recipe for making mutton seekh kebabs:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of minced mutton (you can also use lamb or a combination of both)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
  • Lemon wedges and mint chutney for serving

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the minced mutton, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green chilies, chopped coriander leaves, chopped mint leaves, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, salt, and vegetable oil.
  • Mix the ingredients thoroughly, ensuring that all the spices and herbs are evenly distributed throughout the mutton mixture.
  • Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a cylindrical or sausage-like shape around a soaked bamboo skewer. Press the mixture firmly to ensure it sticks to the skewer.
  • Repeat this process with the remaining mixture and skewers until all the kebabs are prepared.
  • Preheat your grill or oven to a medium-high temperature. If using an oven, you can use the broiler setting.
  • Place the skewers on the grill or in the oven and cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the kebabs are cooked through and have a nice char on the outside.
  • Serve the mutton seekh kebabs hot with lemon wedges and mint chutney on the side.

Mutton seekh kebabs are a delicious and flavorful appetizer or snack. They can also be served with naan, rice, or in a wrap with some fresh vegetables and sauces for a complete meal. Enjoy!
