Chicken Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup bread crumbs or panko
  • Cooking oil (such as vegetable or canola oil)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onion
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Condiments of your choice (mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, etc.)

Instructions:

Prep the Chicken:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme. Rub the seasonings onto the chicken to coat evenly.

Coating Station:

Prepare a coating station with three shallow bowls. Fill the first bowl with flour, the second bowl with beaten eggs, and the third bowl with bread crumbs or panko.

Coat the Chicken:

  • Dredge each seasoned chicken breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip the chicken into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.
  • Press the chicken into the bread crumbs or panko, ensuring it's coated evenly on all sides.

Pan-Fry the Chicken:

In a skillet, heat enough cooking oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the coated chicken breasts.

Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until the coating is golden brown and crispy.

Finish in the Oven:

Transfer the partially cooked chicken breasts to a baking sheet or oven-safe dish.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

Assemble the Sandwiches:

  • Toast the burger buns if desired.
  • Spread condiments on the buns, such as mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup.
  • Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun followed by a chicken breast.
  • Top with tomato slices, red onion slices, and cheese if using.
  • Place the top bun on the filling to complete the sandwich.

Serve:

Serve your homemade chicken sandwiches warm with your favorite side dishes.

Feel free to customize the sandwich with your preferred toppings and condiments to make it exactly how you like it. Enjoy your delicious homemade chicken sandwiches!
